US stock indices closed higher on Tuesday, supported by heavyweight technology shares as the recent surge in bond yields paused, easing pressure on the sector’s credit outlook. The S&P 500 rose 0.6% and the Nasdaq 100 gained 0.5%, with both indexes finishing at record highs, while the Dow advanced 253 points.
AI infrastructure and hyperscaler stocks were broadly stronger, as a steady flow of new deals continued to fuel speculative demand for the technology. OpenAI was reportedly in talks to raise $30 billion in a new funding round with investors from the UAE. Alphabet added 0.3% ahead of announcing an agreement to secure nuclear power capacity from Constellation Energy, whose shares surged 12.2%.
Chipmaker AMD climbed 2.8% after CEO Lisa Su pointed to robust chip demand over the coming years. Among other megacaps, Microsoft advanced 0.8%, Amazon gained 1.9%, and Nvidia edged up 0.1%.
