Romania Producer Inflation Accelerates in August

Romania’s producer price inflation rose to 11.82% year-on-year in August 2026, accelerating from an upwardly revised 8.84% in July. In the manufacturing sector, prices increased by 10.52% (up from 9.65% in July), supported by faster inflation in food and beverages, tobacco products, textiles, coke and refined petroleum products, other non-metallic mineral products, fabricated metal products, electrical equipment, and other transport equipment.

Producer prices also accelerated in mining and quarrying, rising 12.67% compared with 10.24% in the previous month, and in electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply, where prices jumped 14.95% after a 6.22% increase in July. By contrast, prices in water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities were unchanged at a still-elevated 14.73%.

On a monthly basis, producer prices advanced 2.11% in August 2026, up sharply from a 0.69% increase in July.
