India’s BSE Sensex fell around 0.3% on Tuesday to close at 72,529.1, its lowest level since late March and its second consecutive session of declines. Sentiment remained weak amid elevated crude oil prices, higher global bond yields, persistent geopolitical tensions, and ongoing selling by foreign investors.
Foreign institutional investors offloaded 53.53 billion rupees ($558 million) worth of Indian equities on Monday, bringing net outflows for September to $2.17 billion after two straight months of net buying.
Selling pressure was broad-based across sectors, with financials and technology stocks particularly weak. Titan (-2.7%) was the top loser on the index, followed by HCL Tech (-2.3%), TCS (-1.7%), UltraTech Cement (-1.6%), Hindustan Unilever (-1.5%), and Tech Mahindra (-1.5%).
