Euro Zone Core Inflation Holds Steady at 2.2% in October, Signaling Ongoing Disinflation Trend

Core inflation in the Euro Zone, measured by the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices excluding energy and food (HICP ex Energy & Food), remained unchanged in October 2026 at 2.2% year-over-year. This matches the September 2026 reading of 2.2%, according to data updated on 4 November 2026.

The stability in the core rate suggests that underlying price pressures in the bloc are no longer accelerating on an annual basis, even as volatile components such as energy and food are excluded from the measure. On a year-over-year comparison, both the current and previous readings indicate that October’s price dynamics were broadly in line with those seen a year earlier, mirroring the pattern observed in September.

With core inflation holding at 2.2% for a second consecutive month, the data point to a period of relative price stability in the Euro Zone’s underlying inflation trends, an important reference for policymakers focused on persistent, rather than transitory, price movements.
