U.S. ADP Employment Growth Accelerates in April, More Than Doubling March Gains

Private sector hiring in the United States picked up noticeably in April, according to the latest ADP Nonfarm Employment Change data released on 6 May 2026. The indicator showed an increase of 109,000 jobs for April 2026, a sharp acceleration from March’s 2026 gain of 61,000.

The jump from 61K in March to 109K in April suggests a firmer pace of job creation in the private sector after a softer performance at the end of the first quarter. While ADP figures can differ from the official government nonfarm payrolls, markets often use them as an early signal of underlying labor market momentum and potential implications for consumer spending and monetary policy.
