South Korea’s Service Sector Contracts in April, Snapping March Growth

South Korea’s service sector output swung into contraction in April 2026, reversing the previous month’s gain, according to the latest data updated on 28 May 2026. On a month-over-month basis, service output fell by 1.0% in April, after having expanded by 1.5% in March.

The figures show a clear month-to-month shift in momentum: while March 2026 recorded positive growth compared with February, April’s reading indicates a broad-based pullback versus March. The data highlight rising short-term volatility in South Korea’s service activity, with the sector losing traction just one month after a solid uptick.
