Italy Jobless Rate Edges Down to 5.7%

Italy's unemployment rate saw a slight decline to 5.7% in November 2025, easing down from a revised 5.8% in October, and surpassing market expectations set at 6%. The tally of unemployed people decreased by 30,000 from the previous month, now standing at 1.469 million. This reduction was noted across both genders and all age groups, with the exception of those aged 25–34, where unemployment experienced a minor increase. Concurrently, the employment rate experienced a slight dip, falling to 62.6% from 62.7%, as the number of employed individuals fell by 34,000 to 24.19 million. It's worth noting that Italy's employment rate remains one of the lowest within the eurozone. In terms of youth unemployment—encompassing those aged 15 to 24—the rate dropped to 18.8% from 19.6%. Meanwhile, the inactivity rate held steady at 33.2%.
