Baltic Dry Index Snaps 3-Day Losing Streak

The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk freight index, which tracks rates for vessels transporting dry bulk commodities, rose 0.7% to 2,001 on Wednesday, snapping a three-session losing streak. The capesize index, reflecting rates for ships that typically carry 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, climbed 2.5% to 2,915. In contrast, the panamax index, which covers vessels that usually transport 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, declined 2.6% to 1,796, while the supramax index edged down 0.6% to 1,208.
