Japan’s Corporate Service Inflation Eases Slightly to 3.0% YoY in May 2026

Japan’s Corporate Services Price Index (CSPI) rose 3.0% year-over-year in the latest reading, easing from the previously reported 3.3% pace. The data, updated on 26 May 2026, indicate that while corporate service prices continue to climb compared with a year earlier, the rate of increase has moderated slightly.

The CSPI measures the change in prices that businesses pay for a wide range of services, comparing the latest month’s levels with the same month a year ago. The previous figure reflected the year-over-year change in the prior month, while the current 3.0% reading shows that upward pressure on service costs remains present but has edged down. Investors and policymakers may view this deceleration as a tentative sign that service-sector inflation in Japan could be stabilizing after a period of stronger gains.
