Sweden’s Services PMI Eases in July, Signalling Softer but Ongoing Expansion

Sweden’s services sector lost some momentum in July 2026, with the Services Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) slipping to 54.2 from 56.5 in June, according to data updated on 5 August 2026. Despite the decline, the indicator remains comfortably above the 50-point threshold that separates expansion from contraction, pointing to continued growth in the country’s services industry.

On a month-over-month basis, the latest reading indicates that while activity in services is still expanding, the pace has moderated compared with June 2026. The previous month’s PMI of 56.5 had marked a stronger comparison versus the month before it, highlighting that July’s data represents a cooling from that earlier acceleration rather than a reversal of trend.

The July figure suggests Swedish service providers are navigating a period of softer, but still positive, business conditions midway through 2026. Markets and analysts will now watch subsequent releases to gauge whether this slowdown is temporary or the start of a more sustained easing in services-sector growth.
