Argentina Inflation Rises in September

Argentina’s consumer price index increased by 1.9% month-on-month in September 2026, up from 1.7% in August, bringing cumulative inflation for the year to 23.6%. The largest monthly rise was recorded in housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (3.1%), followed by education (3.0%). Restaurants and hotels registered the smallest increase at 1.1%, while clothing and footwear climbed 1.4%.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages were the main driver of monthly inflation in all regions except Greater Buenos Aires, where housing and utilities exerted the greatest impact. Core CPI rose 1.7%, supported in part by higher prices for dining out and pharmaceutical products. Seasonal prices advanced 2.9%, led by vegetables, tubers and legumes, while regulated prices rose 2.3%, reflecting higher gas, electricity and private healthcare tariffs.
