India’s HSBC Manufacturing & Services PMI Edges Higher in October, Signalling Stronger Growth Momentum

India’s private sector activity strengthened in October 2026, as the HSBC Manufacturing & Services PMI rose to 56.70 from 55.90 in September 2026 on a month-over-month basis, according to data updated on 23 October 2026.

The improvement in the composite PMI reading indicates a faster expansion across both manufacturing and services, reinforcing signs of resilient economic momentum. With the index remaining comfortably above the 50-point threshold that separates expansion from contraction, October’s uptick suggests that business activity is not only holding firm but accelerating compared with the previous month.

The month-over-month comparison shows that October’s gain builds on September’s already solid performance, reflecting continued confidence and sustained demand conditions in India’s economy as the final quarter of 2026 gets under way.
