Slovakia’s Industrial Slump Eases in March as Output Decline Moderates

Slovakia’s industrial sector showed signs of stabilisation in March 2026, with the year-over-year decline in production narrowing notably compared with the previous month. Industrial output fell 0.9% in March compared with the same month a year earlier, an improvement from February’s 2.9% annual drop.

The data, updated on 8 May 2026, indicate that while Slovak industry remains in contraction on a year-over-year basis, the pace of decline is slowing. The “actual” reading for March reflects the change versus March 2025, while the “previous” figure for February captures the shift relative to February 2025, underscoring a gradual easing of pressure on the country’s manufacturing base.

Although still in negative territory, the softer decline could signal early signs of a potential turning point for Slovakia’s industrial producers if the trend continues in the coming months.
