Sensex Finishes at Near 2-Month High

India’s BSE Sensex closed about 0.3% higher at 77,764 on Friday, its strongest finish since early May and marking a third consecutive session of gains. A softer-than-expected US jobs report and falling crude oil prices eased concerns about imminent interest rate hikes by the US Federal Reserve. The heavyweight technology sector continued to benefit from expectations that a more dovish Fed could bolster tech stocks globally.

HCL Tech led the advances with a 5.8% rise, while Tech Mahindra gained 1.8%, TCS 1.2% and Infosys 0.6%. Bajaj Finance added 1.4% after reporting a strong operational performance for the first quarter of FY27, driven by robust growth in assets under management (AUM), loan disbursements and customer acquisition.
