Peru Inflation Rate Hits 3-Year High of 4.55%

The annual inflation rate in Peru’s capital, Lima, accelerated to 4.55% in September 2026, its fastest pace in three years and up from 4.44% in August. This was the seventh consecutive month in which inflation remained above the central bank’s 1%–3% target range, as higher global fuel prices and adverse weather conditions continued to affect the transport, agriculture, and fishing sectors.

By category, the strongest price increases were observed in transportation (15.10% vs. 14.79% in August), restaurants and hotels (4.35% vs. 4.27%), food and non-alcoholic beverages (3.87%, unchanged from 3.87%), and education (3.50%, unchanged from 3.50%). In contrast, prices continued to fall in communications (-4.30% vs. -4.35%). On a monthly basis, the consumer price index (CPI) rose 0.12% in September, following a 0.07% increase in August.
