Spain welcomed approximately 10.3 million international visitors in May 2026, an increase of 9.5% compared with May 2025 and a new record for that month. The United Kingdom remained the leading country of origin, with almost 2.2 million tourists (+6.1%). France (+11.1%) and Germany (+9.0%) each contributed around 1.3 million visitors.
The most common length of stay was four to seven nights, chosen by nearly 5.4 million tourists—14.1% more than in the same month a year earlier. The number of day-trippers rose by 2.7%, while the number of tourists staying more than 15 nights fell by 3.7%.
Catalonia was the leading destination, attracting 21.1% of all tourists, a 13.1% increase compared with May 2025. It was followed by the Balearic Islands, with a 20.6% share of total arrivals (+5.2%), and Andalusia, which accounted for 15.9% of tourists (+12.7%). For the year to date, the number of tourists rose by 5.0%, surpassing 36.8 million.
