Indonesia Trade Surplus Smallest Since 2020

Indonesia’s trade surplus narrowed to USD 0.09 billion in April 2026, down from USD 0.20 billion in the same month a year earlier and significantly below market expectations of USD 1.5 billion. This marked the smallest surplus since the country last recorded a trade deficit in April 2020, as imports expanded more rapidly than exports. Imports jumped 22.49% year-on-year, while exports rose 21.98%.
