Private house approvals in Australia rose 0.4% month-on-month to 10,631 units in June 2026, according to preliminary estimates. This was a moderation from the downwardly revised 2.4% increase recorded in May, but still marked a second consecutive monthly rise.
The overall gain was supported by higher approvals in Queensland (2.9%), South Australia (2.8%), and Victoria (2.2%), which more than offset declines in Western Australia (-5.4%) and New South Wales (-0.3%).
On an annual basis, private house approvals jumped 15.8%, up from a 13.3% increase in the previous month and representing the strongest year-on-year growth since September 2024.
