The Swedish economy grew by 1.6% quarter-on-quarter in the second quarter of 2026, revised up from the initial 1.4% estimate and rebounding from a revised 0.1% contraction in the previous quarter. This was the strongest expansion since the first quarter of 2024, largely driven by a sharp increase in gross fixed capital formation (up 3.5% versus a 2.2% decline in Q1). Household consumption also strengthened (0.9% vs 0.5%), and government spending returned to growth (0.7% vs -2.2%). Net trade contributed positively as well, with exports rising 1.0% (though slower than 2.5% in Q1), while imports edged up only 0.1% (vs 2.0%). On an annual basis, GDP rose 3.3%, accelerating from 2.0% in the first quarter and marking the fastest growth since the fourth quarter of 2024.
