Namibia’s annual inflation rate rose to 5% in August 2026, its highest level since February 2024, up from 4.4% recorded in each of the previous two months. The acceleration was driven primarily by a sharp increase in transportation costs, with inflation in this category surging to 13.2% from 9.3% in July. Prices at hotels, cafés, and restaurants continued to grow at a steady annual pace of 6.2%, while health-related inflation inched up to 5% from 4.8%. On a monthly basis, the consumer price index (CPI) increased by 0.6%, following a 0.1% rise in the preceding month.
