New Zealand’s current account deficit widened to NZD 1.67 billion in the second quarter of 2026, up from NZD 0.78 billion in the same quarter a year earlier, but came in below market forecasts of NZD 2.7 billion. The goods trade surplus narrowed to NZD 1.57 billion, compared with NZD 2.76 billion in Q2 2025.
