Hungary Trade Surplus Narrows in December

In December 2025, Hungary experienced a reduction in its trade surplus, which decreased to EUR 333 million from EUR 362 million in the same month of the previous year. This change occurred as the growth pace of imports marginally surpassed that of exports. Specifically, exports rose by 6% on an annual basis, reaching EUR 10,809 million. Among these, exports to EU nations saw a modest increase of 0.2%, while those to non-EU countries experienced a significant rise of 7.7%. Concurrently, imports increased by 6.5% to EUR 10,475 million. Notably, import volumes from EU countries decreased by 2%, while those from non-EU partners climbed by 23%. Over the entire year of 2025, Hungary's trade surplus narrowed to EUR 8,245 million, compared to EUR 8,684 million in the previous year.
