Argentina’s consumer confidence improved modestly in May 2026, according to the latest Thomson Reuters IPSOS Primary Consumer Sentiment Index (PCSI) reading. The index rose to 40.81 in May from 40.35 in April, based on data updated as of 13 May 2026.
The month-over-month gain underscores a slight strengthening in sentiment compared with April 2026, when the indicator had stood at 40.35. Under the PCSI’s methodology, the “actual” figure reflects the change in the reported month versus the prior month, while the “previous” figure captures the month-over-month change recorded in the earlier period.
While the improvement is incremental, the index’s movement above its April level suggests Argentine consumers are marginally more optimistic about current and near-term conditions than they were a month earlier. Market participants and policymakers will be watching upcoming releases to see whether this uptick marks the start of a more sustained trend in confidence.
