Brazil’s vehicle production increased 6.3% month-on-month in May 2026, reaching 253,600 units—the strongest May performance since 2019, before the pandemic. The expansion was driven primarily by a 21.5% surge in passenger car sales, supported in part by robust demand for entry-level models under the Sustainable Car program. Light commercial vehicles, including pickups, vans, and cargo vans, also registered solid growth of 7.7%. By contrast, truck production declined 15.1%, and bus output fell 16.3%. Both segments are expected to recover as more favorable financing conditions become available through the Move Brasil 2 program.
