The press office of the National Bank of Ukraine reported that as of September 1, 2014, gold reserves of bank shrank 1.49% or $239 million in August. Thus, gold reserves are estimated at $15.831 million which is $239 million less than the print of $16.070 million recorded on August 1. The central bank’s report reads that foreign exchange reserve amounts to $14.163 billion as of late August, the reserve position in the IMF equals $0.03 million, special drawing rights are $1.68 million, and gold totals $1.67 billion.
Speaking about 2014, in the period since January until August the national bank’s gold and foreign currency reserves tumbled 22.45% or $4.582 billion to $15.8 billion from $20.4 billion.
According to the recent estimates, in July 2014 the gold and foreign currency reserves fell 5.93% or $1,014 million. This figure was $17.083 billion as of July 31, 2014. For the reference, in 2013 the national bank’s reserves plummeted 16.82% or $4.130 billion to $20.416 billion.
