Kazakhstan’s government proposed that Russia and China consider the change of their gas pipeline route and map it through the territory of Kazakhstan, Xinhua news agency reported.
The Russian-Chinese gas pipeline is planned to be constructed through the Altai Mountains directly to China. Minister of Economy of Kazakhstan Karim Masimov put forward a proposal to build the gas pipeline through Astana and Khorgos or Alashankou to China. Kazakhstan’s Deputy Minister of Energy Uzakbai Karabalin said that Russia expressed some interest in the proposal. Russia and Kazakhstan are going to create a joint work group for detailed consideration of the issue.
