Donald Tusk’s career progression

Donald Tusk, the former Prime Minister of Poland, has officially become President of the European Council. The Polish politician was an obvious favorite in the competition for the post of President of the European Council. His main competitor was a Luxembourgish politician Jean-Claude Juncker. However, as it turned out, Jean-Claude Juncker has too many enemies. The behind-the-scenes contest was very tight. Adversaries used all available resources during political rally, for example, some opponents from London even accused Juncker in alcoholism. Some memories of Andre Kemmer, the former security officer of Luxembourg, were printed by a prestigious magazine. He remembers the meeting with Jean-Claude Juncker at his office in 2007, where the Prime Minister "was dead drunk." Now, all intrigues are left behind, and the European Council officially welcomes its new head. For context, Donald Tusk replaced Herman Van Rompuy.
