Tokyo is the world’s most expensive city

Tokyo has regained its position as the world’s most expensive city to live in, Economist Intelligence Unit informed. Last year, Zurich ranked first as the city with the world's best quality of living, and it still retains its spot in the top ten. This year Osaka ranks the second most expensive city followed by Sidney. The top ten also includes Melbourne, Oslo, Singapore, Paris, Geneva, and Caracas.
On the contrary, living as comparatively cheap in Jeddah, Tehran, Panama, Algeria, Colombo, Kathmandu, Mumbai, New Delhi, and Karachi.
The cost of living has recently surged in such Australian cities as Sidney and Melbourne as well as in some Asian countries. Eleven positions in the top twenty are taken by Asian cities, while European metropolises retain some eight positions. No American cities are represented in the top twenty however.
The survey measures the cost of a lifestyle in over 130 cities. It is based on a weighted average of the prices of 160 products and services.
