Moscow soccer coach not to pick up the bill

The fashion for the loans is fading, only the debts remain. The main coach of the Moscow soccer team Spartak must pay back a €22 million credit to one of the Spanish banks. Recently, the BBVA bank has filed the petition against Valery Karpin. According to Spanish newspaper La Voz de Galicia, the banking institution is claiming the Russian coach to pay the credit debts. This story has lasted since 2003, when the BBVA gave a large loan for land acquisition to Karpin's company, Valery Karpin y Asociados Inmobiliarios S. L. The enterprise was intending to buy the territory in one of the northwestern towns of Spain to build some property. However, later the project was set back so that the construction had not even been started and the area stayed untouched. Previously, the apparitors have tried to give Mr Karpin a subpoena. But the officials found neither Spartak coach himself, nor his major partner Jose Crespo. Besides, the Valery Karpin y Asociados Inmobiliarios S. L. office has been closed for several years. The bank's Board has not told anything yet about its intentions to appeal for any penalties or criminal sanctions. In compliance with the contract terms, the debtor has one more month to deal with the arrears and find the way to solve the problem before the trial starts. It is symbolical that the purchased land is in Vigo, because Valery Karpin used to play for the local team Selta in 1997-2003.
