Office workers using a mouse and keyboard have caused serious damage to the Russian economy by socializing in their favorite social networks. Analysts estimated the total amount of the losses in 2012: the budget was missing a sum of 281.7-311.5 billion RUB because of the employees spending time in the social networks. The official report of the audit and consulting company FBK states that every staffer wasted an average of 3,187.2 minutes or 52.1 hours of their labor time on the active communication in the social networks. On the basis of these data it was possible to determine the lower and upper levels of the financial damage of companies from various branches. The highest score for the biggest losses in the amount of 67.9 billion RUB goes to clerks of financial institutions, the real estate market, and the service sector. The “silver medal” is given to employees of the educational sector for the damage of 39.8 billion RUB. The “bronze” is passed to civil servants, state administration officials, personnel providing the military security and clerks of the social insurance sector who caused losses equal to 36.6 billion RUB. At last, real, not virtual, farmers come at the end of the list: workers of the agricultural sector and forestry inflicted the damage of 0.9 billion RUB as a result of networking online. According to the data from the audit and consulting company FBK, the total amount of social networkers in Russia reaches 51.8 million, each of them spends on chatting approximately 25.6 minutes per day. Meanwhile, US employers estimate the similar damage at 650 billion US dollars annually.
