Obama promises African people “the sunrise”

Barack Obama, the U.S. president, took on a role of “the illuminator” of Africa. $7 billion is to be provided for developing the electric power industry in such countries as Ethiopia, Nigeria, Liberia, and Ghana. At present, over 60% of the population of the above-mentioned countries are doing without electricity.
Within the space of 5 years, it is supposed to build power plants as well as to update the oil and gas exploitation; that means the double growth of the energy consumption by dwellers of the southern continent.
Barack Obama sounded his promise to “light” Africa at the University of Cape Town in the course of his trip around African countries. It is worthy of note that back in 1966 at the same university Robert Kennedy declared that the civil right battle of the Americans and the anti-apartheid movement in the SAR were interrelated. Obama did not get a chance to meet with Nelson Mandela, the ex-SAR president, since Mandela is in a sad plight at hospital. However, the U.S. president visited the prison on Robben Island, where Mandela had spent 18 years of his life.
