Gennady Onischenko happy to add candy to embargo list!

Recently the prohibited articles list for the Russian Federation has been added with candy from Ukraine. Meanwhile, the Russian consumer protection agency Rospotrebnadzor put under the “sweet ban” the produce of only one Ukrainian confectionery giant, Roshen corporate enterprise. The ostensible reason is the breaches in the quality standards and produce safety and also non-conformity of articles to the properties declared on package. To be on the safe side, Russian experts on sweet goods have traced even benzopyrene. Officials of the supervising authority submitted the claim of Rospotrebnadzor against the Roshen enterprise in early July. However, the candy manufacturer has not received any official papers yet; the incident was made away just with the verbal warning. The company specialists highlighted that the whole produce goes through the strict quality control procedure as it is exported not only to Russia, but to European countries where the quality requirements are higher. Political analysts disclose entirely political causes in the incident. Vasiliy Yurchishin, Director of Economic Programs of Razumkov Center for Economic and Policy Research stated in his speech that by such measures Russia forces Ukraine to join the World Trade Organization and takes revenge on Kiev for imposing special duties on importing Russian vehicles. It should be noted that apart from the production enterprises in Ukraine, the Roshen corporate entity runs its own production facility in Russia as well - in the Lipetsk region.
