Russia's economy goes through stagnation

Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev has summed up the economic results of the first half-year period and announced the stagnation reason at the latest Cabinet meeting. According to the head of the government, despite the slow growth, the current situation is not satisfactory yet, and there is still a lot to do. It turned out that the Russian economy came to a standstill due to the low competitiveness. Medvedev admitted that such a state of affairs was triggered by inflated prices, investments that do not always find a use, and torpid technical development. To solve these problems, the government introduces reforms and tries to improve competitiveness in fields concerning most of Russia's citizens. “I mean housing and utilities, communication, and medical services as well as public transportation, and a wide range of other sectors,” the premier said. Furthermore, the government has to face a challenge with the the sectors of natural monopolies and state procurement. Small and medium businesses are suffering from the bulk of the bureaucratic requirements such as licensing and different inspections into commissions. The officials are planning to develop a technical potential and do their best in order to attract investments. The Russia's national economy will remain uncompetitive until the government takes decisive steps.
