Steve Ballmer is going to step down as soon as these two essential for the corporation conditions are fulfilled. “There is never a perfect time for this type of transition, but now is the right time. We have embarked on a new strategy with a new organization and we have an amazing Senior Leadership Team,” Steve Ballmer stated. He also added that a new leader should accord with the spirit of the time and have the clear vision how further reforms will be taking course in the company. A new CEO is supposed to go on restructuring the main departments and it is planned to found four divisions instead of the current eight ones. Each department will be focused on a certain activity: operating systems, attachments, cloud services, and devices. Besides, it is expected to set up separate units that will be dealing with research, marketing, and business development. Searching an appropriate replacement will be assigned to the special committee that will be taken under Bill Gate’s personal control. “In the tight cooperation with the other board’s members, I will be looking for a new great CEO. We're fortunate to have Steve in his role until the new CEO assumes these duties,” Bill Gates commented on the situation.
