Russian shipbuilding industry catching foreign investors

In the words of Russia’s President, the shipbuilding in the country is in the worse condition than the automotive industry. One of the reasons why shipbuilding companies are in the sleep mode is the ineffective policy of the Industry and Trade Ministry since Russian civil servants do not bring enough pressure on foreign industrialists to make them place their production facilities on Russia’s area. “To my mind, such policy is being pursued not firmly and efficiently enough. That’s the whole point,” Vladimir Putin was severe upon Denis Manturov, the authority’s head. The President suggested pushing foreign companies directly; no funds allocated for developing the shipbuilding industry in Russia, no orders will be booked by the Russian side. “The idea has to be understood by everyone; we are not going to purchase from them unless they cooperate with us. This was done long before!” head of state Putin was rebuking the minister angrily. Apart from the minister, the President’s disapproval was also directed at homeland companies that place their orders for vessel construction overseas. “The more orders you are going to book in Korea, the less motivation they will have to contribute to developing our domestic production capacities,” such a message was appealed to ship owners. Besides, the President mentioned that apart from such financial influence, it is essential to bring to a higher level the quality and deadlines of domestic manufacturers and also to curtail production costs and enhance efficiency. To sum up, one more audience has taken place; one more blowup has been given to the executive management of the particular branch; some more tough utterances have been outspoken. As a rule, the whole incident comes to an end this way. New business trips, new assemblies, and new ministers are yet to come.
