TransCanada, one of the largest pipeline companies in Canada, unveiled a standard report on the work done, containing information on construction routine and deadlines. And this was exactly what moved the oil prices up. The black gold quote surged on the news that the southern section of the new oil pipeline has been finished and is about to be launched. The world markets immediately reacted to the TransCanada latest report. On Wednesday, October 2, the price of the light sweet crude oil (WTI) on NYMEX jumped by $2.06 and equaled $104.10 a barrel. Brent oil on London-based IСE Futures Europe grew by $1.25 to $109.19 per barrel. TransCanada, one of the largest pipeline operators, is planning to complete construction of the southern leg of the Keystone XL pipeline network by late October. According to James Millar, a senior spokesperson for TransCanada, the pipeline will transport oil from Cushing, Oklahoma, to the U.S. Gulf Coast. However, the line fill is expected to begin later, as there are still some tests to be conducted.
