Barack Obama condemns riots at US Capitol

According to Barack Obama, the former US president, Donald Trump is playing a very dangerous game. Absolutely ignoring the interests of the nation, he thinks only about his own good. As a result, his actions may lead to disastrous consequences for the country.

The former president made a poignant statement following the violent riots, calling them "a moment of great dishonor and shame for our nation."

"History will rightly remember today’s violence at the Capitol, incited by a sitting president who has continued to baselessly lie about the outcome of a lawful election, as a moment of great dishonor and shame for our nation," Obama began. "But we’d be kidding ourselves if we treated it as a total surprise," he said.

Notably, Trump is well known for his penchant for social networks that serve as a megaphone for him. There he usually shares his opinion about everything and rarely misses any negative comments about him. However, this time, he does not have such an opportunity as Instagram and Facebook blocked his accounts, which prevents him. So, Trump cannot post messages to his followers after he published a string of inflammatory messages on a day of protests at the Capitol. Thus, without his usual tools of interaction, Donald Trump was forced to record a video message to the protesters, asking them to go home in peace. "It was a landslide election, and everyone knows it, especially the other side, but you have to go home now. We have to have peace. We have to have law and order. We have to respect our great people in law and order. We don’t want anybody hurt," he pointed out.

During the approval of the election results, Trump’s supporters broke into the US Congress and into the Senate Chamber. Law enforcement agencies were forced to use tear gas to deter the advance of riots.
