Bank of Russia introduces first coins with ruble’s logo

The Bank of Russia put the first coins with new ruble logo into circulation. According to the central bank, the issued money is “legitimate means of cash payment on the territory of the Russian Federation.”
The first run contains coins denominated 1 ruble and 3 rubles.
An important point to remember is that the logo created by Art. Lebedev Studio represents the Cyrillic letter “P” crossed by a horizontal strip. The official symbol was determined through the public online voting and later approved by the Russian regulator. Four more contenders were fighting for the title.
In total, the bank of banks has minted 500 silver coins in 3 ruble denomination, which will go into circulation, and 1,000 3-ruble uncirculated coins. The 1-ruble coins made from nickel-plated steel is issued in the amount of 100 million.
