Taiwan Export Orders Hit New Record High

Taiwan’s export orders jumped 62.4% year-on-year to a record high of USD 114 billion in September 2026, easing from the exceptional 71.4% growth recorded in August. The pace of expansion moderated across several key categories, including information and communication products (87.3% vs 100.5% in August), electronic products (71% vs 83.9%), machinery (21.5% vs 28.3%), electrical machinery (7.1% vs 14.7%), and mineral products (73% vs 91.6%).

By contrast, growth in orders for basic metals and related products strengthened (29.7% vs 26.8%), while transport equipment saw a strong turnaround, with orders rebounding to 5.8% from a slight decline of 0.1% previously. Despite the deceleration in several segments, total export orders remained above USD 100 billion for a second consecutive month, highlighting the resilience of AI-related demand. This reflects Taiwan’s pivotal role as a leading global supplier of AI chips and associated technologies.

Geographically, export order growth was broad-based and remained robust across major markets, led by the United States (79.4%), Europe (68%), Mainland China and Hong Kong (48.5%), ASEAN economies (41.1%), and Japan (35.5%).
