UK Total Pay Growth Eases as Expected

Total average weekly earnings in the UK, including bonuses, increased by 4.1% year-on-year to GBP 755 in the three months to June 2026. This was down from a 4.4% rise in each of the previous two three‑month periods but was in line with market expectations. It also represented the slowest pace of growth since the three months to February.

The moderation was driven by the private sector, where pay growth eased to 3.7% from 4.1%, its weakest rate since February. In contrast, public-sector pay growth picked up sharply, accelerating to 6.2% from 5.5%, the fastest increase since the three months to December 2025.

Adjusted for inflation, total earnings rose by 1.1%, slightly below the 1.2% gains recorded in the three months to May and to April.
