Slovenia Trade Deficit Narrows in December

In December 2025, Slovenia's trade deficit experienced a significant reduction, decreasing to EUR 210.7 million from EUR 891.3 million during the same month the previous year. This improvement was driven by a 13.3% increase in exports, reaching EUR 5,363.4 million, as sales to both EU countries (up by 1.5%) and non-EU countries (up by 23.7%) saw substantial growth. Conversely, imports slightly declined by 0.9% to EUR 5,574 million, mainly due to a reduction in purchases from non-EU nations, which saw a 3% decrease, while imports from EU countries rose by 1.6%. Over the entire year, Slovenia recorded a trade surplus of EUR 1,488.4 million, a notable turnaround from a trade deficit of EUR 7,701.7 million in the previous year.
