Japan Industrial Output Logs Strong Recovery, More Than Estimated

Japan's industrial production experienced a more significant expansion in March than initially estimated, following declines in the two preceding months, as revealed in the final data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry on Thursday.

Industrial production increased by 4.4 percent month-on-month, offsetting a 0.6 percent decrease in February. The initial estimate had indicated a growth rate of 3.8 percent.

The data also indicated that shipments surged by 4.7 percent compared to the previous month, while the inventory ratio climbed by 7.6 percent. Additionally, inventories saw a 1.0 percent uptick.

On a yearly basis, the contraction in industrial production intensified to 6.2 percent in March from 3.9 percent in the preceding month. The initial report had shown a 6.7 percent decline.

Meanwhile, capacity utilization saw a minor decrease of 0.2 percent in March following a 0.1 percent decline in the prior month.
