Sweden Industrial Output Growth Steady in May

Industrial production in Sweden increased by 6.9% year-on-year in May 2026, unchanged from April’s revised rate and remaining the strongest expansion since September 2025. Manufacturing output also grew by 7.0%, supported by stronger production of chemicals, chemical products and pharmaceuticals (14.4% vs 12.5% in April), electrical equipment (3.4% vs 1.7%), and a rebound in computer, electronic and optical products (11.1% vs -2.3%). These gains more than offset a contraction in coke and refined petroleum products (-5.6% vs 10.0%) and a marked slowdown in transport equipment (4.3% vs 9.9%).

In addition, mining output rose by 9.1%, accelerating from a 1.6% increase in the previous month. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, overall industrial production edged up 0.2% in May, following a 4.2% rise in April.
