Argentina Retail Sales Growth Slows in February

Argentina’s retail sales increased 17.9% year-on-year in February 2026, reaching ARS 495,867 million, a moderation from the 20.7% rise registered in January. At current prices, the largest advances were seen in diversión y esparcimiento (33.4%), perfumería y farmacia (33.1%), librería y papelería (32.2%) and patio de comidas, alimentos y kioscos (30.7%). The only category to record a decline was electrónicos, electrodomésticos y computación, which fell 20.1%. In terms of geography, sales in the City of Buenos Aires climbed 23.6% to ARS 136,908 million, while Greater Buenos Aires recorded an 11.1% increase to ARS 158,884 million. In real terms, at constant prices, overall retail sales fell 2.1% year-on-year.
