New Zealand Electronic Card Spending Rises in November

In November 2025, electronic card transactions in New Zealand experienced a monthly increase of 1.2% (adjusted for seasonal variations), amounting to NZD 7.01 billion. There was noticeable growth across various sectors, with consumables rising by 0.4%, fuel by 1.8%, and services by 2.8%. Similarly, there were upward trends in durables (2.1%), hospitality (1.3%), apparel (3.4%), and vehicles (2.6%). Annually, total electronic card expenditure grew by 1.8% in November, up from a 0.8% uptick observed in the previous month, indicating steady albeit moderate expansion in consumer spending.
