The Bank of Ghana has reduced its policy rate by 250 basis points to 15.5% during its inaugural meeting of 2026. This adjustment brings borrowing costs to their lowest point since February 2022. Governor Johnson Asiama indicated that headline inflation is anticipated to approach the medium-term target of 8.0%, while robust economic growth is expected to continue throughout 2026. In December, Ghana’s inflation rate decreased to 5.4%, the lowest since July 2022, marking the 12th consecutive month of declining inflation.
