South Korea Consumer Sentiment Falls in August

South Korea’s Composite Consumer Sentiment Index fell by 2.3 points in August 2026 from the previous month, reaching 104.5. Consumer sentiment about current living standards declined by one point to 92, while expectations for future living standards also dropped by one point to 97. Expectations for future household income decreased by one point to 100, and sentiment regarding future household spending slipped by one point to 109.

Assessments of current domestic economic conditions deteriorated more sharply, falling five points to 79, while expectations for future domestic economic conditions declined three points to 89. Expected inflation over the next year stood at 2.7%, with both three-year and five-year inflation expectations at 2.6%.
