The number of building permits issued in Serbia rose by 8.6% year-on-year to 2,751 in July 2026, easing from an 11.3% increase in the previous month. Buildings accounted for 83.6% of all permits, of which 82% were intended for residential construction and 18% for non-residential projects. The remaining 16.4% of permits were issued for civil engineering works, with the majority (73.6%) related to pipelines, communication networks, and power lines.
In total, 4,292 dwellings were approved for construction. Of these, 10% are planned in single-dwelling buildings, while 88.7% will be located in buildings with three or more dwellings. By region, the Belgrade area recorded the highest share of planned construction, accounting for 35.5% of the total.
