Hungary Construction Output Jumps to 4-Year High

Hungary’s construction output surged by 21.9% year-on-year in August 2026, sharply rebounding from a 12.2% decline in July. This was the strongest growth since February 2022, supported by robust gains across both main construction segments.

In contrast, building construction continued to contract, though at a slightly slower pace, falling 9.6% year-on-year after a 10.7% decrease in July.

On a seasonally and working-day-adjusted monthly basis, total construction output was up 14.0% in August, following a 4.6% decline in the previous month.

Over the January–August period, overall construction output in Hungary inched up by 0.1% compared with the same period a year earlier.
