Slovakia Consumer Morale Lowest in 3 Years

Slovakia’s consumer confidence indicator fell to -28.2 in March 2026 from -25.0 in February, reaching its lowest level since March 2023. The index now stands 8.3 points below its long-term average, indicating a clear deterioration in household sentiment.

The decline was mainly driven by a more pessimistic assessment of the general economic outlook (‑45.7 vs ‑38.2 in February) and increased concern about future unemployment (38.8 vs 33.3), pointing to rising anxiety over overall economic conditions and job security.

By contrast, households were slightly less negative about their own finances. Views on their current financial situation improved marginally (‑12.0 vs ‑12.3), as did expectations for future savings (‑16.1 vs ‑16.2), suggesting a degree of resilience at the household level despite the broader weakening in confidence.
